This ointment contains Salicylic Acid which belongs to the group of medicines called keratolytic agents. It works by break down the bonds that hold the dead skin cells together, thereby softening and loosening them. This process helps to shed the dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, revealing the newer and healthier skin beneath.

How does Salicylic Acid Sulphur Ointment 10% work?

Salicylic acid is used to help clear and prevent pimples and skin blemishes in people who have acne. Salicylic acid is also used to treat skin conditions that involve scaling or overgrowth of skin cells such as psoriasis (a skin disease in which red, scaly patches form on some areas of the body), ichthyoses (inborn conditions that cause skin dryness and scaling), dandruff, corns, calluses, and warts on the hands or feet.

How to use

Use this medicine as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Take the required quantity of the medicine and gently apply it on the affected area twice daily. ALLERGY

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Salicylic acid.

INTERACTIONS

Talk to your doctor, if you are using,

  • Other skin medications containing sulfur, resorcinol, benzoyl peroxide or topical retinoids
  • Cosmetics containing alcohol, lime and spices (e.g. after-shave lotions, soaps, shampoos or perfumes)
