Tinidazole crosses the placental barrier. Because the effects of compounds in this class on fetal development are not fully understood, their use is contraindicated during the first trimester of pregnancy. Although there is no evidence that tioconazole + tinidazole is dangerous during the last part of pregnancy, its use during the last two trimesters should take into account the potential benefits in relation to the possible risks for the mother and the fetus.
